Salman Khan And All Cases Against Him..

Actor Salman Khan was today acquitted in the 1998 Arms Act case by the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jodhpur district. The Bollywood actor was accused of possessing and using firearms with an expired license. Here’s everything you need to know about the case, as well as three other cases Salman has been named in.

Salman Khan and all cases against him : 10 points

1.  ARMS ACT CASE 1998

In October 1998, police filed a case against Salman under Sections 3/25 and 3/27 of the Arms Act for allegedly possessing and using a 0.22 rifle and a 0.32 revolver to kill two black bucks in Kankani village in Jodhpur on the midnight of October 1/2. The actor was in Jodhpur for the shooting of a Hindi film, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain.” Other Bollywood actors, including Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre, are also accused of poaching black bucks with Salman. 1 Arms Act case 1998

2.  SALMAN ACQUITTED

The arguments in the case were completed on January 9 in the trial court, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit reserved the order to be pronounced today. The court acquitted Salman today, after the prosecution failed to provide conclusive evidence, ANI reported

3.  SALMAN SAYS HE WAS FRAMED

Salman Khan had appeared in court twice to record statements, and both times, he pleaded innocence and stated he was framed by forest officials. 3 Salman says he was framed

4.  PROTRACTED PROCEEDINGS

The court was supposed to deliver the judgement on February 25, 2014, when a prosecution application – which had been moved in 2006 by the then-prosecution counsel – was suddenly discovered. The court “refused to deliver the judgement without deciding on the application, for which four new prosecution witnesses had to examined,” prosecution counsel Bhawani Singh Bhati said. 4 Protracted proceedings

5.  BLACK BUCK POACHING CASE 1998

Salman has also been asked to appear before the court on January 25 – along with actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu – to record statements in a separate case filed against him under the Wildlife Protection Act, after the same incident 5 Black buck poaching case 1998

6.  A CASE FULL OF TWISTS

Salman was initially convicted and sentenced in the black buck poaching case in 2006. In 2007, the Rajasthan High Court suspended the actor’s sentence on the condition he wouldn’t leave the country without the court’s permission. In 2013, the High Court altered its condition about travelling abroad, and stayed the conviction after Salman said he wouldn’t be able to obtain a UK visa because of it. And in January 2016, the Supreme Court set aside the High Court’s stay on Khan’s conviction, to consider Khan’s plea afresh. 6 A case full of twists

7.  1998 CHINKARA POACHING CASES

Two separate cases were registered in 1998 against Salman under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, after he allegedly poached three chinkaras – two in Bhawad village on September 26-27, and one in Mathania (Ghoda Farm) on September 28-29. 8.  SALMAN ACQUITTED, BUT RAJASTHAN  GOVERNMENT CHALLENGES VERDICT

In July last year, Salman was acquitted in both cases , after he appealed against the lower court’s verdict that had sentenced him to one and five years’ imprisonment, respectively. 9.  SALMAN JAILED TWICE

In the three poaching cases registered against him, Salman has twice served time in the Jodhpur jail – in April 2006 and in August 2007. 9 Salman jailed twice

10.  HIT – AND – RUN CASE

In December 2015, the Bombay High Court acquitted Salman of all criminal charges in a hit-and-run case, just months after he’d been found guilty by a trial court.
